Xcom 2 Save File Location

Instructions:

ENABLE CONSOLE IN XCOM 2 in STEAM

Please tell me where is the Save Game location or directory for XCOM 2. I dont understand why these developers makes it so tricky to find. I want to share my Save files to my friend but not able to get it anywhere on my PC. XCOM Enemy Within saves its games in /Library/Application Support/Feral Interactive/XCOM Enemy Unknown/XEW/SaveData. Share improve this answer edited Oct 20 '15 at 20:08.

READYING THE TEMPLATE (Optional)

  1. Open the 'cheatfiletemplate' in any spreadsheet manager (Google Sheets works well)
    1. Since it is a text file as well, you could manage it in a text file editor as well
  2. There will be two lines for soldiers already in the file.
    1. Copy paste to add more lines for soldiers
  3. Arrange the stats for the soldiers as you see fit.Note: In order for the cheat batch file to work, the names in the csv will need to match the names of the soldiers in your save game.
  4. Export the sheet as csv to your desktop

USING THE CHEAT FILE GENERATOR

  1. Open the editor.
  2. Set game type
    1. Set your steam drive in the text box for xcom 2
    2. If playing 'Xcom 2 - Wrath of the Chosen', click the 'War Of The Chosen File Location' checkbox
    3. Select or unselect the option for 'the long war 2' depending on what game you are playing
      1. This adds the prefix 'LWS_' before the class names, except for the Psionic class
    4. If using 'Richards Classes' mod, click the checkbox
      1. This adds the prefix 'RS_' before the class names, except for the Psionic class
  3. Click 'Load CSV file'
    1. Select the input CSV from your desktop
  4. Review the soldiers in the datagrid below
    1. Values can be edited in the grid - See 'SOLDIER EDITING' below
  5. Click Generate Cheat File
  6. Save it as an easily used filename - cheat.txt works wellNote: this will set all soldiers to level 2 in their respective class.

SOLDIER EDITING

  2. Soldier class can be set via the dropdown and button
    1. Select a soldier
    2. Select a class

  4. Type 'exec ' and then the cheat file name. Example: 'exec cheat.txt'
  5. Review the soldiers

SETTINGS

  1. General Program settings

    1. The Xcom2 Exe folder location can be set here as well
    2. Either type the full path of the exe on your machine
    3. Or browse to it using the folder browse button
      1. This absolutely MUST be the directory with the 'Win32' and 'Win64' folders
    4. The 'Adjust Attributes By Class' does ... something, only involving the Hacking class
    5. The folder will be set once the settings window is closed
    6. The 'Override Xcom2 Location' checkbox will need to be checked in order to use the newly set location
    7. The folder settings will not be saved for later use unless 'Export Settings CSV' is clicked
  2. Classes can be edited from the settings control - Class tab

    1. To add new classes, add the class name as referenced in the mod and click the 'Add Class' button
      1. If the name of the class does not match the name of the class in the mod, the class change won't work
    2. To delete a class, select the class in the list and click the 'Delete Class' button
    3. The changed class list will be passed back to the main control on closing the settings page
    4. If the class list needs to be reset to the base classes, click 'reset class'
    5. The classes will not be saved for later use unless 'Export Class CSV' is clicked

Troubleshooting:

  1. If the CSV file isn't loading, try reloading the CSV in a spreadsheet editor.
    1. Compare against the template to see if there are any differences in columns
  2. If soldier stats aren't applying to certain soldiers, check the spelling of their first and last names2. First and Last Name in the cheat file must match the names in game, otherwise the cheat file will not change their stats.

The common wisdom for PC backups is you need three copies of your files: the active copy on your hard drive, a local backup, and a remote backup. When it comes to games, the rules are no different.

If you're a Steam user, Valve takes care of the remote backup portion since you can re-download purchased games from Steam at any time. But it also pays to make a regular local backup of your game files—especially since game downloads can be utterly massive.

To be clear, this is about backing up the actual game, not your game progress. If you want to make sure Geralt of Rivia doesn't have to start over at White Orchard, check out our earlier tutorial on backing up your PC game saves. (Many Steam games automatically back up your saves using Valve's Steam Cloud service, but not all of them.)

Now let's get down to the business of backing up your game files. First, launch Steam from the Start menu and select Library.

To back-up your games from your local Steam library, right-click any one of the games downloaded to your machine. From the context menu that appears, select Backup Game Files...

A smaller window appears, listing all the games downloaded to your machine. Check the box next to the titles you want to backup; as you select games, the disk space required will be displayed at the bottom of the window.

Once you're ready to start backing up, click Next. The following screen displays where the games will be backed up. By default, the location is usually C:/programs files (x86)steamBackups. If you want to change that click Browse... and choose the folder you want or create a new one.

Click Next again.

Now you'll be asked to name your backup files--a name is automatically generated for you based on the games your backing up. Below that are two storage compression sizes. You can either store your files as though you were stashing them on a CD or DVD. Choose the version you want and click Next.

TIP: If you plan on backing up all of your games, Valve recommends adapting the method described in the Moving a Steam Installation and Games support document.

Now your backup will start.

Don't worry about the fact that Steam is smooshing all your games together in one big backup. Steam will sort all that out for you when you restore them by opening the desktop program and going to Steam > Backup and Restore games... Valve also has a brief support document online for reference about using Steam's backups feature and how to restore your games.
