Does Diablo 2 Run On Windows 10
Hey!
I'm currently running Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Build 10130.
Diablo 2 lags very badly and nothing I do seems to help (all done on version updated via Battle.net)
What I tried:
1) Compatibility settings: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
Reduced Colour Mode 16-bit (65536) colour
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
Run this program as an administrator
Glide3x.dll made by Sven Labusch
(Note: worked very well under Windows 8)
2) No compatibility settings what so ever. Game lags, Video Test doesn't even want to open.
3) Compatibility settings as above, with 3D on Video Test
4) Compatibility settings as above, with 2D on Video Test
5) Compatibility settings: Windows 98
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
Run this program as an administrator
Black screen, had to force shut-off whole OS.
6) Windowed mode
My setup:
Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti
Intel Core i5 4670K
8GB RAM
2 screens (somewhere I read that Glide doesn't like two screen, but I tried all above on single screen and it was the same)
Any ideas?
Cheers
EDIT: This will be embarrassing. I re-installed the game and played it with no compatibility settings or Glide or whatever. Game runs smoothly. The only problem left is no sound (haven't noticed before, as I was concentrating on lag). There is no music or sound in game or during cinematics or wherever.
EDIT 2: Sound also fixed. Followed the instructions from http://us.battle.net/en/forum/topic/17605344350

With your setup, you can probably play D2 in a Windows XP VM smoothly
I have the same issues here!
I installed Windows 2000 Pro with all the latest patches in a virtual machine and the game seems to play way better.
I'd like a way to play Diablo 2 without having to fire up a virtual machine every single time I crave some d2.

We'll have to wait until Windows 10 is finalized and released and then take a look at seeing what needs to be done with the game to see if it can be made to run properly.

Think I found a solution!
Right click your diablo 2 shortcut and click properties and where it says target it should look something like 'C:Program FilesDiablo IIDiablo II.exe'
At the end of this you will add a space and type -w so it will look like
'C:Program FilesDiablo IIDiablo II.exe' -w
This will put it in windowed mode and should hopefully solve your lag issues. Enjoy!
Note: My lag issues were coming from groups of mobs or a necro being on screen which made it near unplayable.

I have the lag problems with Windows10 so I hope D2 can one day be able to run smoothly on Windows 10
I am running Diablo 2 on my Windows Surface Book. Operating system is windows 10. I have tried everything listed in this forum and still continue to have poor video performance on diablo 2. I am running diablo 2 in window mode. When I first start up d2 everything is fine but the longer I play the worse the video performance gets until after about 7 minutes the number of frames skipped exceeds the frame rate. Is anyone experiencing this issue or have a fix?
Here's a fix to make Diablo 2 work on Windows 10:

Basically you have to download the glide wrapper, run d2vidtest, and select glide.
