1. I downloaded a different alarm app from the Windows Store, and it too didn't make any sounds (but gives notifications). In both of the above cases, I get the little notification pop up, the apps definitely work properly, just no alarm sounds. Please note, NONE of the above apps will make sounds or show video. Windows Camera is a blank screen, even though I have a webcam connected that will work on Skype.

2. I checked that all device drivers are updated. Unless I'm missing a codec or something not already present in Device Manager I don't know about.

- Windows 10 Anniversary is up to date. All my software is up to date.

- My sound is Realtek High Definition Audio.

3. I disabled the PnP speakers (which weren't connected to any speakers), the Nvidia sound (which weren't connected to any speakers), as a precaution that the system is using an installed playback device that makes no sounds.
- There is no sound device now installed in Sounds > Playback except for the Speakers that run on Realtek High Definition Audio, which of course are set to default.

- I had no app sounds BEFORE or AFTER disabling. It made no difference to Cortana, Skype, Youtube, any browser whether these other Playback devices were installed or not. They worked before and continued to work after.

4. Cortana speaks, responds, and works quite well. I hear Cortana fine with no problems. Cortana hears me with no problems.

- I verbally told it to: 'Remind me to turn off the oven in 1 minute'. It sets an alarm, which triggers via notification, no alarm sounds.

- I told Cortana to 'Play an Alarm Sound', and Cortana says 'I pulled up some videos for you', alternatively it opens Groove Music.

- I told Cortana to 'Play the Chime Alarm', it says 'what time would you like to set your alarm?' and sets an alarm, which then makes no sounds, but shows a notification. NO alarm sounds.

- I told Cortana.. 'TELL ME to turn off the oven in 1 minute', hoping to get it to SAY, 'Turn off your oven' so I can get a sound. Once again, it sets an alarm, which posts a notification, no alarm sound.

5. I checked the Sound setting in the little icon on the bottom left of the screen.

- Volume Mixer not muted anywhere, turned up to the middle.

- Both Playback and Recording settings and 'default' are correct.

- Skype works fine for both video and audio.

- I can also play Youtube music videos fine in any browser (Chrome, Edge, IE), both video and sound. VERY badly on Edge and IE, Youtube must be refreshed 2-3x before it will work, but eventually it works.

6. I checked Settings > System > Notifications & Actions, all notifications are ON.
- 'Get Notifications from these Senders', all apps are ON.

7. I checked that the actual alarm sound file exists in the system.

- To verify, I went into the Sound(bottom right button) setting > Sounds.

Strong by zumba download free. - Clicked on the first thing (Asterisk).

- At the bottom of the screen, where you can test the sound files in the system, I changed the file name to Alarm01.wav.

All sound files play perfectly when the 'Test' button is pushed.

- I assume this Alarm01.wav is the one for 'Chime' in the Alarm app, but all soundfiles work when tested.

8. I checked the Registry. In HKey_Current_User > AppEvents > EventLabels, I see: Notification.Looping.Alarm, this goes from 1-10 folders. I assume this is the Windows Alarm, since I see no other specific Alarm entry.

- I had previously made a minor change in Regedit which was recommended for my Logitech webcam, adding 'EnableFrameServerMode' in 2 spots. Beyond this, there are no changes or modifications to Windows 10 or the Registry in any way different from the default updates Windows sends.

9. I checked Administrative Tools > Services. Windows Audio is Automatic and Running. Windows Audio Endpoint Builder is Automatic and Running.

10. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Alarm App itself. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Voice Recorder (this is less relevant, but would be nice to have). The removals were via Powershell, which took out all traces, before reinstallation.

Why Isnt My 555 Timer Working Light

Again, I have made NO modifications to Windows 10, which was a clean install on an i7 computer built within a year.

- Windows Updates are automatic, and it keeps pushing me updates, and I get them all, including the Anniversary Edition, which is what I'm on now.

- I do have some legacy hardware (Printer, new older Logitech webcam, etc). They all work fine, everything works fine except for alarm sounds.

I am stumped. This lack of sound ONLY applies to Windows Apps (Alarm, Calendar, Voice Recorder) alarm sounds.

- Software and browsers AND Cortana & Skype have both video and sounds with no problems.

My thought is that the problem might be where these specific apps are linking to the alarm sound file.. sending it a different storage address? But where would you find that? Or there is a Codec for Windows Apps not automatically downloaded?

I have no way to set an alarm on my system with sound at all, and after perhaps 20 solid hours trying everything short of writing my own alarm program (I don't know programming), I am out of ideas. I surely can't be alone with this problem, could you please help?
