Earlier this week, I talked to some game developers about why they love Final Fantasy Tactics. But beloved or not, man, does this game have a steep learning curve. A little background: I never had.

As you know, healing items can hurt the undead. So, you should always have at least one person that can use items. Because 1 Phoenix Down will instantly kill any undead creature or character!

In a battle take out all enemies, except for one. Then use a black mages technique Toad or Beowulf's Chicken to prevent the opponent from attacking. Finally, just continually use the squire's focus technique or Ramza's Tailwind.

When you have undead enemies on the battle field and you have a chocobo on your side that has chocobo cure, use the cure on your undead enemies to take away some hp from them and gain hp for the chocobo.

If you have an archer, try to get them to the highest point on the battle map. Your archer will be able to fire further and in some places the whole battlefield!

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions Unlockables

To use Cloud's Limit Breaks you need to first acquire the 'Materia Blade.' If you have Mount Bervenia on the map go there. Move up and down on the map until a battle starts there, but before starting the fight make sure someone has a jump 4 or higher and has the equipped ability 'Treasure Hunter.' Once the battle starts try to move that person to the highest point on the mountain. There you will pull up the Materia Blade. After the battle equip Materia Blade to Cloud and he will now be able to use his Limit Skills.

Unlockable: Secret Characters
Here's a list of unlockable characters in Final Fantasy Tactics. Keep in mind that each character is acquired in the fourth chapter, and that you must have Mustadio in your party for each character to appear. Otherwise, you won't have the opportunity to recruit any characters.
Beowulf - Read the rumors at Goland, and then head to Lesalia. There, you will find Beowulf, and can agree to accompany him to Goland. After a series of plot battles, he joins the party.
Biblos - After clearing all ten levels of the Deep Dungeon, this character will become available for recruitment.
Cloud - After returning Reis to human form, go to Goug. Cloud (of Final Fantasy VII fame) will run off to Zarghidas. After clearing Igros, go to Zargidas and win the fight to recruit this character.
Construct 8 - After rescuing Reis from Goland, return to Goug. Worker 8 joins the party after a cutscene.
Dragon Reis - Go with Beowulf through Goland Coal City. Reis is rescued during the final battle in the series, and will join the party thereafter.
Human Reis - First, read the rumors at Zeltennia, and then buy a flower in Zarghidas. From there, return to Goug. This unlocks a battle in Zeltennia, where Reis takes human form at the fight's conclusion. - PSP Submitted by GamesRadar
After the Chapter 3 Orbonne Monastary battles, go to Zekalus Desert. Watch the cut scene and complete the battle.

The single hardest summon spell to acquire in Final Fantasy Tactics, the Zodiac spell deals massive amounts of damage to all enemies in a wide range on the battlefield. Getting the spell requires sending your party to the lowest level of the game's most challenging dungeon.
Proceed through the game until you reach Chapter Four and win the battle that occurs at 'Murond Holy Place.'
Keep at least one unit in the Summoner job, and make sure that unit has a very high amount of hit points.
Take the party to the town named Warjilis and watch the cut-scene where the main character listens to some rumors in the bar about a hidden dungeon. After the scene, a new area of the world map will open up.
Go to the new area labeled 'Deep Dungeon' and enter the first level of the dungeon. Make your way through the various areas until you reach the 10th and final level of the dungeon.
Battle the main enemy on the 10th level, a Lucavi demon named Elidibs, but do not immediately kill him.
Position your Summoner so that she is always within range of Elidibs. Once Elidibs casts the 'Zodiac' spell on your Summoner, the Summoner will then gain the ability to also cast the spell.

Tips
Consider having your Summoner become a Time Mage briefly so that he can learn the 'MP Switch' skill, which will make it more likely that the Summoner will be able to survive when the Zodiac spell is cast on him.
Warnings
The exits between each level are not marked on the map in Deep Dungeon. You will have to send your units to search every square on the map until they find the entrance to the next level.
